Glutathione in Foods, A Healthy Hearty Easy To Make Soup

While it is my belief that everyone should take the proper supplements to ensure that their body produces its own bountiful supply of glutathione I also believe that everyone should eat well and make use of the natural glutathione in foods.

Even if you are taking the proper supplement, the building blocks of glutathione are things that you can never have enough of.

Today I am going to give you one of my personal recipes, one that I absolutely love. Give this recipe a try and you will find that getting a boost of glutathione in foods can be a tasty treat.

Broccoli and Cheese Soup

Ingredients:

(tbsp = tablespoon, tsp = teaspoon)

  • 1 bunch of broccoli (about 1 ¼ pounds)
  • 2 cups sliced onions (I like them thinly sliced but you can slice them to suit your taste)
  • 5 tbsp margarine or butter
  • 7 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ¼ cup of flour
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/8 tsp fresh ground pepper
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheese of your choice (I use pepper jack)

Preparation:

Remove the florets from the stalks of broccoli and separate them into small bite sized pieces. Simmer the florets in water with a pinch of sale for about 2 minutes then drain it and shock it by immersing it in cold water.

Dice the stalks (keep them small) and sauté them along with sliced onions and 3 tbsp butter or margarine over medium low heat for about 5 minutes. Use a saucepan for this and we will build the soup as we go.

Add about 3 cups of chicken broth and oregano to the sauté mixture and let it simmer for about 25 minutes.

Now comes the fun part. You can either process the sauté mix in a blender for a smooth soup or leave it as it is for a chunky texture. I do it both ways depending on my mood.

In a separate saucepan melt the remaining butter or margarine then begin to stir in the flour a bit at a time. Stir constantly until the mixture is smooth and lump free. Add the mustard and pepper then slowly incorporate the broccoli mixture and the remaining chicken stock stirring constantly until it begins to bubble.

Last but not least, add the cheese and milk. Make sure you continue to stir until the cheese is completely melted and incorporated into the soup. Add the broccoli florets as a finishing touch.

As you can see by this yummy recipe you do not have to fear glutathione in foods. The building blocks to glutathione are present in many foods and you can easily create a hearty filling meal using them.

Glutathione is foods is a great way to give your body an extra boost but cannot supply all of the precursors to glutathione that your body needs to keep glutathione at the levels needed to fight off disease and cleanse your system.

When you purchase a supplement it is important that it contain all of the precursors to glutathione that your body so desperately needs. Don’t settle for second best when it comes to your health.
